for those truly homeless, try seeking hdb's help for a rental flat.
for those faking or chose to be homeless, govt should issue fines to keep them from gaining sympathy and asking for money.

This topic was mentioned at radio last evening. Not all people on the street are homeless. There is a group who do not have home. A group who do not want to stay at home, so come out to sleep at night. A group who are not Singaporean, they may cross the causeway to come look for daily job, they choose to stay here overnight on the street. Everybody has a story behind, some of then can be resolved.
Our Govt foresee this situation and discourage people hang around during night time. Therefore all the chairs, benches and seats build by them all come with handles, so there is no way one person can lay flat to sleep.

It’s not as many as in other countries but I still sympathize them. Most of the homeless that I see are the elderly. But I think the government can still step in and provide something for them. For those able bodied homeless ppl, the Govt can probably provide shelter for them in return they have to volunteer at some NGO centers.
